Diabetes 101

Well, we had our first class in Diabetes 101 tonight with the doctor. Lydia's glucose levels came back 800 plus. (if you are like me, and you don't know what is normal- try 80- 150) So, we are so happy that we're here and she's getting the treatment that she needs. She had her first dose of insulin about 45 minutes ago and we'll see in a couple of hours, if they need to increase or lower the dosage. They are going to check her every 2 hours tonight. She is being a complete trooper! She only seems concerned about her hospital bracelet. :) Thanks for all of your prayers!

  2. Kristee, So glad Courtney linked to your blog. I am praying for y'all and sweet Lydia! So glad you all caught it before it got worse! I hope they get her balanced out asap. I spent the weekend with a girl who has type 1 and wears a pump, we spent a lot of time talking about her diagnoses and now how it affects her life... which is very little! She has 2 healthy children and is living with it wonderfully! Be encouraged!! The Lord will never give you more than you can handle!I hope you all can get some rest, please let me know what I can do to help y'all!! xoxoxo D

  4. These are the times when living away from my oh so precious family are more than I can absolutely bear!!! Please know that all our hearts and prayers are with the four of you this evening and in the upcoming days. Lydia is one lucky girl to have such devoted and loving parents. She is in the best of hands indeed. My prayer for you this evening is that God may grant you peace of mind and heart while under the care of the devoted hospital staff. Please give my sweet baby a squeeze and tell her Honey, Walter, Lawson, and Tucker love her very much.

  5. Hey Kristee! Wanted you to know I'm saying prayers for y'all as you deal with this news. Do you know Natalie Burleson? One of her boys has diabetes, and Natalie is a great resource. She might be someone to talk to as you process all the info. That precious little clothing model is going to be just fine and so are you!

  6. Kristee!!! Wow!! 800??? That is one LUCKY little girl!!! I am certainly thinking about and praying for you guys!!! I have to tell you one thing to remember, that sometimes they forget to mention...when things settle down, make sure you get her eyes checked. She should be checked yearly (dilated) to make sure that the diabetes has not affected her eyes. Its manageable if it is caught early enough, and the little ones are at higher risk for damage.

    I'm thinking of you guys!
