Oh Snap!

Tiny D spent Thanksgiving afternoon in the ER in Port St Joe. She broke her collarbone trying to climb out of the baby bed after a nap. She is fine, but has to wear a sling and wrap for 4-6 weeks. It hasn't slowed her down one bit, but it has messed up her balance. (which means we've added a busted lip already, etc) Just another bump in the ol' road..

Anyway, we're still at the beach and lovin' it!

We made it...

I know you're thinking we need to head straight to the local fire department and get some help with these 2 carseats! :) "Honey" must have made a few hard turns.

Anyway, we made it down to St George Island on Sunday and life is good. Lots of fun and beautiful weather. It completely reminds me of how much I have to be thankful for...

Lots of love!

Iron Chef America

Okay, maybe not Iron Chef America, but I was busy tonight. My Grandmama King makes the best dressing EVER! I am not going to make it to her house for Thanksgiving this year, so I asked for her recipe.

She emailed it. Yes, you read correctly, she emails too! Anyway, the email starts out with a recipe for egg bread. My first thought was, the Dowlings are going to have "Stove Top Stuffing", bc I've never made bread in my life, but I decided to "man up". I got out the ol' Iron Skillet and made it happen.

I followed each step in the recipe. ex: 1-2 cups of buttermilk. (No offense GM, that's what excellent cooks do) Also, she informed me that Turkey Stock would be best instead of Chicken Stock. So, I went to the family grocery and bought a pack of turkey head, legs, thighs, necks or something. I really am not sure, but I boiled those bad boys up!

Here's the egg bread waiting to be crumbled!

Nothing like a couple of stale, soggy HD buns thrown in too.
Just following the recipe!
Hey, it looks like uncooked dressing to me!

I've got it in the freezer letting all of those flavors merry until I haul it South. I sure hope I can carry on Grandmama's tradition, because she is one special lady and makes a mean dressing too!

Guess we'll find out next Thursday!

Working up an Appetite...

We're trying to do whatever it takes to get this child to eat! We have hit a wall and she is "not hungry"! Meal times have become more than awful and it's tough stuff, people. We are trying it all, but if any of you have any suggestions, they are more than welcome. Prayers Please.

Now, on a lighter note, she is really getting the hang of her Pinkalicious bicycle. She has the pedaling down to an art, but the steering is a different story. She is too busy watching her feet. It's tough on this old girl's back, but it is the cutest thing ever!
