Daddy-Daughter Camp Out

Saturday was such a fun, family day! We spent most of the day outside, then Will suggested a camp out for the girls in the back yard.. They immediately got excited and Lydia packed her backpack full of clothes and toys.

We grilled out and ate by candle light on the back patio. We had some tunes going and it was very relaxing. After dinner, the marshmallows came out and they ate their fair share.

They went in and out of the tent a minimum of seventy-five times. While inside the tent, it looked like it was going to collapse because they could not be still. Watching their shadows and listening to them talk, was priceless. We had to remind them several times that the tent was not a house of bricks.

Lydia asked why I was eating dinner with them and having marshmallows with them, since it was not a camp out for mommy. I made sure they knew I was just visiting. They went inside the tent for story time. I was told to go inside. I snuck back out to listen, but I could not hear anything, but I did see a lot of movement and shadows. They came inside to deliver Dantz because she wanted to sleep inside. When Daddy and Lydia went back out, Dantz wanted to go too.

After another three minutes in the tent, they came back inside.

We tucked them into their beds and they fell fast asleep.

Everyone slept well. :)

Here we go, October!!

We have been busy.

I've been in a funk. Let me add, a diabetes funk. This past week has been a rough one.
It likes to throw  a curve ball when we get to feeling a little too sure of ourselves. It has my full attention.

I haven't slept much in over a week.

I am ready for L to feel her best. And REAL soon!

We have an endo appointment on October 15th and it cannot get here soon enough.
I have so many questions and changes that I think need to be made. I have been doing a lot of basal changes myself and think I fixed the early am spike, but now it appears we have another one after breakfast. Sweet girl doesn't need to be 400 at school or anytime for that matter.

4 pods in one week. Ridiculous.

School is great though. I am so very, very thankful that I am there 3 of the 5 days. It helps this mama relax (alittle) to be able to walk over and check her mulitple times in a morning, when necessary.

The girls are loving school. And gymnastics.

The weeks fly by and the weekends are even faster.

Fall Break is next week and we are ready.

Here's some random pictures from my cell phone. Will be back soon!

Love y'all!

Grandmother and her girls at Memaw's 80th b'day bash!

Sue Ellen, you did a great job cheering!

My little athlete, Dantz hitting the ball. Lydia had my phone and took this.

Enjoying a beautiful afternoon outside and a freezer pop!

Cute little indian princess

All the rain hasn't slowed down Dantz machine!

L in her big girl carseat!

Dale County's 50th Anniversary, I bumped into ol' "Bobo" from Redneck Island. hahaha!!

Yuck, right??? This was just one of the many pods from this past week. It was pretty horrible.

Much cuter than last pic. Hello Kitty duct tape, who knew???

It's been 2 years....

and whew, we have come a LOOOOONG way! Remember this Diabetes 101

The memories have started flowing.

We sat in those diabetes classes like they were speaking a different language. We were scared to death. It is all here... Information Overload

Now, it's just part of our lives. We don't like it, but it is, what it is. Some days are far worse than others and that helpless feeling is overwhelming.   Other days are just routine with finger pricks, carb counting and bolusing. Everyday we worry.

And we are tired. Like extremely tired.

Our sweet girl is depending on us to keep her healthy. I can honestly say we are doing our best.

We are still hoping and praying for a cure.  (TEAM LYDIA- March 3, 2013-Walk for a cure)

We are so very, very thankful for insulin. It is amazing and keeps our angel alive.

So today, we are are celebrating that diabetes is part of our lives, rather than something that ruined or destroyed it.

Football Fun!

We took the girls to see two of their big cousins in action recently. Emma is cheering for JV at Wicksburg and Lawson is playing varsity football at Stratford. They loved watching Emma cheer. Lawson's team was playing in Albany, Georgia, this past Friday night, so we hit the road to see him in action. Sissy got the girls two uniforms from Providence (they happen to share the same colors and mascot as Stratford) and they thought they were something. They cheered for #88 and danced around the entire game. It was so much fun!

Long Weekend!

Another week of school has come and gone and the girls are loving it! They are  learning so much and meeting new friends. They chat back and forth to each other about their day and I learn so much,  just listening to them. Now, I completely get how Mom used to know all of my business. She just listened. :)

I haven't gotten any notes from Dantzler's teacher, but to hear her tell Lydia, she is having some table issues. Not completely sure what that means and there is absolutely no telling. Lydia tells Dantz that she would get a yellow ticket in Mrs. Sander's class, if she did not follow rules. They are funny.

The week has not been easy, though. A cold/sinus business hit me  last Friday night and it put me down for most of the weekend. I actually ended up going to the doctor on Wednesday, because I was OVER it. Seriously wish I had gone last Saturday. So, with that being said, the girls ended up sick too.

Sickness and Diabetes are not fun together, makes you kinda thankful to just deal with 'betes alone. Lydia's blood sugars were ALL over the place. Again, what a blessing to work at the church and be able to just walk over to check on her. She had more shots this past week, then she has had in a long time and it made me appreciate the pump, even more.

I cannot even explain the feelings I get inside when my baby is HIGH. I know it is so bad for her and I know she feels bad; therefore, I feel helpless. I had the hardest time bringing it down because of her cold. Part of me worrying because she is high and then the rest of me worrying that I had given her too much insulin. It is a frustrating battle.

The girls think it is so cool that I am working at the church and taking care of the babies. They ask me every morning, if they can help."Mama, are we going to sit on the curb for you to get us, or are we going to eat lunch at church today?"

They think it is totally awesome to take a lunch box to school, three days a week. They are eating lunch at the church, on the days that I work and let me tell you what, that just might be my favorite part. It is three less meals a week that I have to beg for Lydia to take one more bite, or argue with Dantz that she has to eat something. I send their lunch, check and give Lydia her insulin and let them do their thing.  It is a win-win.

So, hello loooong weekend. We've been waiting for you!
