Weekend has come to an end!

Oh my, where do the weekends go? We had a busy one, but it was wonderful. Will was out of town last week, so Friday night, we took it easy and enjoyed some daddy time.
Tiny D couldn't get enough of her Daddy.

Saturday morning we got up and hit the great outdoors. The weather has been absolutely gorgeous here (sorry mom) and we are soaking it up. Check out the girls "get-up" in the picture below.

Yes, it's a life jacket. As a friend said, "punky" and "princess"

The girls are still lovin' the Jeep. They drive it  for about 30 seconds, stop, get out and switch places. It literally looks like a chinese fire drill.

Will took them to pickup lunch on Saturday and he sent me this picture from his cellphone. He took them inside of Chick fil a, on Saturday, at noon to get it "to-go". Still makes me laugh.

Nice weather, means outide projects begin. We had the rotten eaves replaced last week and now, it looks worse than before. Will has been busy scraping off the old paint.

Luckily, he has a helper. :)

I'm playing church league softball and we had our first practice today.  It's going to be a large time, but I'm thinking I might need a different glove. :) Anybody?
We try to make the yard look nice, but these "skanks" like to dig it up!

And last...
I'm picking up "Team Lydia" tees tomorrow. (check out that spreadsheet that Bea whipped out) I've been busy this evening making a list and checking it twice. We are officially sold out of all adult sizes. We have youth sizes left, if anyone wants a tee for a child or grandchild, just let me know. knking29@aol  It's hard to believe over 340 t-shirts have been sold for sweet Lydia. Y'all are so wonderful and we truly appreciate each and every one of you.

Friday Fun Day!

Snow White and the Wicked Witch!

We got out the art supplies and decided to participate in Bellamia's Art Contest.  Lydia even drew a princess in her farm scene. Dantzler enjoyed telling me all the sounds the farm animals make while she was drawing.  If you have little ones, you should click here for more info.  Bellamia's Art Contest  The prize is a family membership to Landmark Park!! We've got our fingers crossed. :)

County Girls

I wish I would have taken my camera with us yesterday when we took a "ride to the country". I took all of these on my camera phone and they are not very good, but I'm glad I have them.

Will's dream is to move to the country one day.(river front to be exact) Lydia claims she wants to live there too. I grew up in the "county", so I'm not quite sold yet. (It's beautiful, but not convenient) I've got a feeling, I'll have a 2-6 tag again one day. :)

PS. As I type this post both girls are napping in Lydia's room. I can't believe my little Dantz Machine is sleeping in a twin bed. sniff, sniff.

My kind of Weather!

Gosh, it's a great feeling to ride down the road with the windows down and the sun bright enough to wear sunglasses and really need them. We have soaked up some rays this week and loved every minute of it! We have been cooped up, too long and way overdue, for some outside action.

We loaded up a few times and headed to the park this week. Will was out of town all week and we did our own thing. Let's just say the kitchen was just about closed. :)

Besides all the outside fun, this mama has been busy! Busy selling t-shirts, that is! Yes, I ordered 375 tees on Thursday and over 300 have been sold. (email me if you still want one! knking29@aol.com)   It is truly amazing all the support we have received  for Team Lydia. We are feeling the love! (it doesn't hurt that the tees are so stinkin' cute either)

We are looking forward to the walk on Saturday, March 5th.We hope you join us!  There's no registration fee, but you are required to register. Here's the link: http://www2.jdrf.org/site/TR/Walk/Chapter-Alabama4000?team_id=11749&pg=team&fr_id=1246  And if you've already registered click on the link anyway and look at that goal. AMAZING!
Happy Sunshine Weekend!

Happy Valentine's Day 2011 !

We had a great weekend, even though the pigtail princess looks a bit upset. Friday night, WD came to the rescue and took the girls to Bea's for another slumber party. He slipped out and we headed out to dinner. If you haven't been to Joe Mama's Pizza Firestone Pizza on Oates Street, it is yum!
I slept in Saturday am and then took the girls to a birthday party and they were precious. I wish, I would have taken pictures of them in action, because it was at a gymnastics's place and they had a ball. It brought on some very, long naps on Saturday. :)
Saturday night we relaxed and a couple of friends came over for a no-fuss dinner. We had about 2 minutes of regret thinking we should be at the Mardi Gras Ball and then realized we were so happy to be home in stretch pants on the couch. :) I think we are getting old.
I love Valentine's and not really sure why. Maybe because it's just a fun, no pressure holiday around here. The girls iced heart-shaped cookies and Lydia kept saying, "We don't eat the cookies, right?" She didn't eat the cookies, but she did eat her fair share of icing. Oops, I should have been more clear on my directions.
Lots of goodies have arrived for the girls from loved ones. It's so cute to see them rip into their surprises and then get excited about the tissue paper or a pack of chewing gum. It's the little things, right? I really could learn a lot from my pigtail princesses.
We've mailed out a few "Team Lydia" letters and we're still overwhelmed by the response. We are so excited about the Walk on March 5th at Westgate Park. We do hope you all will join us! The t-shirts are going to be super fun and cute for all. We are up to 2500.00 and still have 20 days to go! Go TEAM LYDIA! Hello World...

Are you there.....
....... because we have been cooped up inside way too long?! I "think" everyone is better and I'm sure hoping and praying that I'm right. It has been a long 6-7 days with two, sick little ones and a hubby too. Not sure who was worse
And don't let me forget my "CSI- Oak Drive" skills that cost me more sleep than I had to spare. Yep, I was up nursing a sick one back to health, in the wee hours of the morning and saw two thieves (and their getaway car) trying to take my neighborhood down. I called 911.
Click here, if you dare    White lady yells out of front door!
So, back to my sick babies.... I know my Mom and Dad are going to read this and not care about the girls health and want to know what the heck happened on Oak Drive. We are fine, just call me and I'll tell you all about it.
We thought the girls were better over the weekend, then it took a turn for the worse. So, I ended up taking Lydia to Dothan Peds, first thing Monday am, to confirm the flu and an ear infection. She just couldn't seem to shake it. She has been  fever free all day today and went to bed happy tonight. They have some deep "sisterly-love", but I'm quite certain they are ready to see some other friends too. (I know this mama is)

Now let me say this and I'm going to bed.... We are overwhelmed by the love and support for the "Walk for a Cure". The donations have started coming in and walkers have started signing up. We are so excited about "Team Lydia". Thank you JDRF for your research and determination to find a cure for my sweet L and so many other families too! We've updated our team page. Check it out.

Potato Soup for the Soul...

This soup is super easy and only a few ingredients. I don't really measure much when I cook, so you can't mess it up if you want to add more broth, less potatoes, or whatever you desire.. Just give it a try because it's fine flying solo or with a hot, club sandwich.

Dice up some onions (try not to cry), saute in olive oil and seasoning salt..(lots of seasoning salt bc that's a lot of potatoes)
Add Chicken Broth and 3 to 4 cups of diced potatoes into your broth. Bring to a boil and cook until potatoes are tender. Mash them some, so the soup is not so chunky. (or however you like it, I like mine smooth and Will likes his chunky, so I find a happy medium)  Last, add Cream Cheese and let it melt. I like for it to simmer for several hours to let all four ingredients marry. :)

Serve with shredded cheddar cheese and it'll treat you right.

Now, it's not all fun in the kitchen. This is what's going on over here....

I'm pretty sure they were bit by the flu bug, but we haven't been in for a proper diagnosis. We are just pushing through and doing what they learned best, "sweatin' it out". Really though, they seem to be doing a little better. We shall see how tonight goes.

Cheers Bro!

It happens at the strangest times and occasions. Today, I was dicing an onion and started crying, not because of the onion, but because it made me think of my brother. It's just like that and it happens. It's a river and I cannot stop the tears. I think about him everyday. Usually, when I think of him, I just smile or a fun memory comes to mind. Then, there are days or moments, like chopping an onion when the tears pour. They are happy tears, because I feel lucky to have had him as a brother and friend. I wish more than anything that he was still here, but I know he's in a better place and that carries me through.

So, as I was crying, I started laughing. Bipolar maybe, but I really just started thinking about what he would say to me. Something along the lines, "Red, you look awful and need to pull yourself together" or "My God, Red, are you on your cycle?" or "Looks to me like you just might need a drink!" and just like that, my face was covered with a smile.
Cheers Bro!

Fever Baby!

This little munchkin is sick. She woke up late, last night burning up with fever. She is pitiful this morning and just wants to snuggle. It's good stuff (the snuggling that is), but I really hope she starts feeling better soon. I'm debating a trip to the doctor, because it's always a risk to come out with more than you went in with.... (however, the flu is going 'round and 'round) We're just kinda playing it by ear this am.

Hoping she gets her groove back soon! (and everyone else that is under-the-weather too)
