Great News!

All four of us loaded up yesterday morning and headed to Birmingham.  Our first stop was a follow up appointment to discuss L's genetic test results and pancreatic insufficiency.

 We got GREAT news!!!

 CF was completely ruled out and the second leading cause of pancreatic insufficiency, SDS too! We are going to continue with the digestive enzyme replacements for the next three months and then discontinue and observe.  And our sweet girl has gained TWO pounds!

Will and I let out a big ol' sigh of relief.

D and L when we arrived at Children's. Lydia was SO happy to have her best friend/sister with her!

This sweet fella came over to talk with us when we arrived. Quatarious and Will got into a deep convo about shooting hoops. It helped pass the hour wait to see the doctor.

I don't know what it is about these spinning stools, but she cannot leave them alone. Wrecks us!

Tiny D had had enough and conked out in my lap for about 30 winks.

We were thrilled with the news, but exhausted when we left her appointment. We wanted to head home real bad, but decided since we were all together and it wasn't too terribly hot, we would head to the zoo! We didn't tell the girls until we pulled up and parked. We asked Lydia what starts with the letter "Z". She yelled, "zoo"! 

 They both caught a second wind in three seconds flat.

Seriously, look at my tall girl. When did she get so big? Makes this mama sad.

They walked together like this all afternoon, until they couldn't walk anymore.....

Birmingham Zoo 2012

It was an extremely long day, but we made the best of it.  They were both asleep before we pulled out of the parking lot  and slept all the way to Montgomery.

Wonderful memories were made.

We also learned something very important...........

The Dowling girls are not quite ready for Disney!
