Get Well Soon!

My Granddaddy King aka "Top Gun"

My heart fell to my feet today when I got a text from Dad telling me that Granddaddy was in the hospital. I went to see him at lunch and he is doing good. He is a complete sport and I was relieved to see that he was himself in the hospital too.  They are moving him out of a unit and into a room today. Please say a prayer that he gets to feeling better soon. I love this man!

Weekends are good!

We took a ride to Hilton, Georgia to eat dinner at The Log Cabin on Friday night with friends and family. Who doesn't love a good ol' ride through the country and a delicious dinner too! I highly recommend both.

The Two B'day Girls

Make sure you share a large platter of fried dill pickles when you go! :)

Will took the girls to pick strawberries on 231 North near TSUD Saturday am. They came home with a basket full of delicious strawberries and lots of cute pictures too. Here's a few of my favorites. The girls had a blast.
Hey Dantz, What cha' got there?

Love this one! (especially Dantzler's jorts)

Come have some strawberry shortcake with us!

This little girl rocked the stage in Wicksburg on Saturday night. I'm not that into pageants, but she did SO good and looked like a complete natural doing it.  She doesn't have a shy bone in her body and is full of personality; it was obvious on stage. Congratulations Sue Ellen, you are one sweet little girl!

Now, what about this pic! I can't even take it. No, it's not my "true love" but that is the first thing I thought about when someone sent this to me. Wow, what a shark and that kayak looks tiny!! By the way, this was in PCB too.

Happy Birthday Reds!

Happy Birthday to my two sweet red headed sisters! I hope your day is extra special. We love y'all!

Family time before Mom leaves to catch a bird back up North.

Will brought the girls to our practice game on Monday night!

Too much going on around them to look at the camera

I'm on the pitcher's mound looking a little too serious. (esp in those socks)

Courtney is swinging that bat and busting that ball for First Pres!

It has been HOT and the girls are already enjoying popsicles and we sure do appreciate a low-carb snack.

Night Folks!

Lydia and her Pod

We woke up at 4 am on Friday and hit the road to Birmingham to attend a class on Insulin Pumps. We have literature on three different pumps, so we are now researching and trying to decide which one will be the best fit for Lydia and our family.
Lydia is so glad to be out of class and ready to eat!

W and L sleeping good on the way home!
One of the insulin pumps we are looking into is OmniPod. We were sent home with a Demo Kit that includes a Demo Pod for her to wear for three days. This morning,  I stuck it on her to let the trial begin. We headed to a gymanastics birthday party with lots of tumbling, jumping, falling and running... What a great way to see if it'll stick and stay in place.

Pod is on her right leg and you only know because I'm telling you! :)
I've had a lot of anxiety about this whole pump business until today. Anxiety from having to start over, would it be harder, would she wear it and the list goes on. Well, it all went away around 11:30 this morning while she was eating cake and ice cream with her friends. I had her insulin and syringe ready for action because she was inhaling carbs like crazy and it was close to noon. Knowing that her Demo Pod didn't have insulin in it, it hit me. If that pod on her leg was working and the real deal, then I would simply give her a "bolus" of insulin from across the room using a wireless remote, while she continued to giggle with friends and eat her cake. How cool is that?
She's with her sweet friend, Emma King Armstrong
(which I love because her daddy was one of my best friends growing up)

My sweet Lydia will get insulin throughout the day and at meals and not even know she's getting it. Sounds like a dream come true to me! I cannot wait.

Check it out. There's no tubes or wires- it just sticks on you

So, back to the Pod. It stayed on without any trouble during the party and the rest of the day today. It even survived her bath with Dantzler and that is a serious splash party. She will wear it for three days to see how she likes it and make sure it's comfortable for her. Again, this is just one of the three that we are  trying. Check out http://www.myomnipod.com/ if you are interested. It is super cool!

She doesn't even seem to notice it Pump Number 1- check!

What's happening?

Friday night, I hit the town with my two sweet aunts and cousin, Anna. We headed downtown to the Civic Center to see Billy Currington live. His show was great and it helps when they have a lot of hit songs. Anyway, he's on tour with Kenny Chesney next, do you think they'll come back to Dothan?

Me and Anna

God is Great, Beer is Good and People are Crazy!

Cindy and Jan- Thanks bunches!

Now, remember that art contest that Lydia entered a couple of weeks ago at Bellamia? She won her age division and we are super excited about the prize.  (one year family membership to Landmark Park) Yeah for Lydia!

Now this little mess is on art restriction. Not really, but she can't be trusted with the markers. She was covered in red marker and this picture was after I did some scrubbing. You should have seen her legs and she had on pants. :) Lydia told me that it was a very bad idea.

We are heading to Birmingham on Friday to learn about these little boogers. I will give you a report when we return. I've got a little bit of anxiety about the whole thing. I know it will be much better, but the thought of starting from scratch, makes me tired.
I'm thinking the pink one has Lydia's name all over it. :)

Gotta go straighten up!  Grandmother is flying into town this evening and I have two excited little girls.

Melting My Heart

How stinkin' cute and sweet is this! They had a lemonade stand to help raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in Lydia's honor. I had no idea, until I did a drive-by on Sunday and saw them. One of their signs read: Cure Diabetes! It totally melted my heart and still does....

The Mann Boys and Bullard Girls

This lemonade stand was on Saturday and from what I understand, they sold out and had to make more. I just hate that I didn't make it by to have a cup because I heard it was delicious.
The Glasses! Aren't they precious. Thank you girls!
Olivia, Lydia loves her picture!

Every day, I am so thankful for all the love and support we have received during this entire journey.  It has been truly amazing and God is so good. We set a goal of 3,000 for the Walk and raised over $5,500 in Lydia's honor. We sold T-shirts to help fund the much-needed insulin pump for our sweet girl and we sold 375 tees and raised enough money to purchase a $6,700 insulin pump. We love and appreciate you all and the three pictures above are just a small sample of the generousity we have received! We are SO thankful for each and everyone of you!

Rainy Day...

The weekend was great, family in town and lots of "Team Lydia" excitement. The weather wasn't too good on Saturday morning, but it held off enough for us to finish the three mile walk in Lydia's honor.  A lot of sweet friends and family joined us and it was a special time.

Owen Thompson, Lilly Bowers, Claire Coffman, Lydia, Dantz, Anna Clare Thompson, Olivia Glass, Riggs Hickey, Elizabeth McClendon and Mac Adkinson

Will has been working out of town a lot lately. We haven't talked much since he left Monday at three am, but we are all missing him. Lydia had a painful accident yesterday and she cried and cried for her daddy for at least 45 minutes. He has been in meetings all week,  so I sent a text asking him to please call when he took a break. He happened to call while we were in the car and I gave Lydia the cell phone. I kept glancing in the rear view mirror at her talking to her daddy. At first I thought, when did she get big enough to actually have a telephone conversation. Then I thought, it was one of the sweetest things that I have ever seen. We will see you tonight, Daddy!

The girls are ready for a bedtime story from Daddy.

I've been helping my sweet niece, Emma get ready for 7th grade cheerleader tryouts. For those of you that have cheered, you know it's a really big deal. She has been practicing hard and I sure hope her hard work pays off.  The big day was today, but they have been postponed until tomorrow afternoon. Boo! :) Go Emma, you can do it! (of course this isn't a recent pic)

This weather is making me lazy. Will is the early bird, so when he's away, I have to get up with this early bird. This is another old picture and boy, has she grown since it was taken. My little baby will be two in less-than a month. Wow, I can't even believe it.

I have rambled enough and the girls are asking me for a "dance party", so I best go. (This weather doesn't appear to make them lazy) Stay Dry Friends!
